CLOUT STOUT 2011
Anyone who has Clout Stout 2010 is very lucky as it has aged well as a 10%+alc Imperial Stout should. The problem with ageing Imperial Stouts is when do you sell them. Clout Stout is the second most expensive beer in Australia. When you’re paying $60 a bottle then you expect the best. Clout Stout 2011 is presently tasting great but it will be the best before it is sold. I’m still trying to work out if it will be released soon or next winter. I’m using new conditioning yeast so trying to work out if it will age as spectacular as CS2010. I keep changing my mind? http://www.nailbrewing.com.au/beer
Perth Royal Beer Show 2011
Nail Brewing has continued its consistency of gold in 2011. It started in Sydney (SRBS), where Nail Stout was one of only 4 gold given (For the 2nd time). In Melbourne Nail Ale won its 3rd consecutive gold at AIBA, where only 29 golds were given out of 1200 entries. Success continued in June with Nail Stout winning best Stout packaged and draught with a gold and a silver (only 8 golds given). Clout Stout won a silver. http://www.nailbrewing.com.au/beer/awards

Recent News Articles:
Nail Brewing of Perth continued its impressive awards record with two trophies, for both versions of unfiltered oatmeal Nail Stout, bottled and on tap. Brewed with six different malts, it’s a complex beer with sweet dark malt chocolate and coffee flavours balanced with Goldings hops and smoothed with rolled oats. http://www.microbrewing.com.au/news/articles/3201-the-east-strikes-back.html
Serial winners Feral and Nail added to their already bulging cabinets, the former picking up The Premier’s Trophy for its Hop Hog and Best Ale Draught for Fanta Pants, the latter’s Nail Stout picking up both draught and packaged titles. http://www.microbrewing.com.au/noticeboard/3173-winning-out-west-.html
Western Australian Brewers Association President, John Stallwood, said the awards night was a real show down between some great WA breweries after these had dominated the recent Australian International Beer Awards in Melbourne. “WA is the home of craft beer, so for Feral Hop Hog to win this award two years in a row is outstanding. Feral Brewing is one of the best breweries in the world and consistently wins awards, which is very hard to do,” he said. WA Breweries that performed well included Feral, Swan, Nail, Old Coast Road, Mash and The Monk. http://www.microbrewing.com.au/news/articles/3167-brewer-rides-high-on-the-hog.html
NAIL STOUT (6 PER CENT)
Picture perfect in the glass, a tight-bubbled soufflé crowns suitably black fluid; aromas evoke a coffee-house next door to a bakery, with a whiff from a chocolatier’s; flavours match the fragrance, with increased mocha coffee, liquorice and oatcake notes and Goldings hop bite. This bottle-conditioned oatmeal stout is superb. http://www.microbrewing.com.au/news/articles/3145-stout-efforts-in-season.html
Pale ale – think Little Creatures, Nail Ale, Gage Roads Atomic or Matilda Bay Alpha – suits seafood. http://www.microbrewing.com.au/news/articles/3355-truffles-bring-on-the-beer.html
Few Australian breweries take the trouble to add yeast when packaging their beers, though Little Creatures in Fremantle always has and Perth’s John Stallwood has found that conditioning his Nail brews gives them a worthwhile edge in flavour and shelf-life. http://www.microbrewing.com.au/news/articles/3324-brewing--a-proper-job.html
