CLOUT STOUT 2011
Anyone who has Clout Stout 2010 is very lucky as it has aged well as a 10%+alc Imperial Stout should. The problem with ageing Imperial Stouts is when do you sell them. Clout Stout is the second most expensive beer in Australia. When you’re paying $60 a bottle then you expect the best. Clout Stout 2011 is presently tasting great but it will be the best before it is sold. I’m still trying to work out if it will be released soon or next winter. I’m using new conditioning yeast so trying to work out if it will age as spect1200

Meet the Brewer, beers and all
Head Brewer, Mark Reilly invites all beer enthusiasts to an afternoon encompassing all thing beer, both past and present, at The Old Brewery on Sunday, 14 August, 2-5pm. Beer production recommenced three years ago at the iconic Old Swan Brewery building. The site has a noteworthy history of brewing in WA and nowadays is the most central microbrewery in Perth.
Mr. Reilly will be onsite to discuss the inspiration behind the creation of his award winning handcrafted brews, what is involved in the brewing process, the importance of quality raw materials, the continuing growth of the craft beer segment, as well as details regarding historical components behind the heritage listed Old Swan Brewery building (now home to The Old Brewery Restaurant and Function Centre).
Mr. Reilly stated that “recent expansion has increased output and has allowed me to supply a range of 5 resident brews and a number of seasonal releases”. His current range of hand crafted winter releases include the lusciously malty Crawley Bitter; the robust winter warmer, Treetop Stout and the impressive hop dominated Tomahawk Imperial IPA.
Mr Reilly is an industry advocate who is involved in promoting, protecting and pursuing the growth of the Australian craft beer segment. “There is a strong and vibrant community statewide and nationally that has been developed amongst highly engaged beer drinkers who ‘get’ craft beer. In order for the industry to grow and reach its potential it needs to engage with the broader beer consumer”.
Therefore, if you are an individual that is passionate about beer, would like to acquire information regarding the quality and diversity of craft beer, appreciates local produce, or simply values the benefits of a well crafted beer this event is designed for you! Come and experience the comfortable, riverside setting offered at The Old Brewery for a relaxed, yet informative, Sunday afternoon and absorb what’s on offer at The Old Brewery.

Try out these traditional Easter Ideas this long weekend...
Hot Cross Buns Hot cross buns are sweet, spiced buns made with dried fruit and leavened with yeast. A cross, the symbol of Christ, is placed on top of the buns, either with pastry or a simple mixture of flour and water. The buns are traditionally eaten on Good Friday, however in Australia they are available in bakeries and stores many weeks before Easter. A recent variation on the traditional fruit bun has become popular in Australia. A chocolate version is made with the same spiced mixture, but cocoa is added to the dough and chocolate chips replace the dried fruit.
Easter Eggs Eggs, symbolising new life, have long been associated with the Easter festival. Chocolate Easter eggs, are a favourite part of Easter in Australia. Some families and community groups organise Easter egg hunts for children in parks and recreational areas. Easter eggs are traditionally eaten on Easter Sunday, however stores start stocking Easter treats well before the Easter holiday period.
The Easter Bunny Early on Easter Sunday morning, the Easter Bunny 'delivers' chocolate Easter eggs to children in Australia, as he does in many parts of the world. The rabbit and the hare have long been associated with fertility, and have therefore been associated with spring and spring festivals. The rabbit as a symbol of Easter seems to have originated in Germany where it was first recorded in writings in the 16th century. The first edible Easter bunnies, made from sugared pastry, were made in Germany in the 19th century.
The Easter Bilby Rabbits are an introduced species in Australia and are unpopular because of the damage they do to the land. In 1991 a campaign was started by the Anti-Rabbit Research Foundation to replace the Easter Bunny with the Easter Bilby (an endangered species). Author Jeni Bright wrote a children's story called Burra Nimu the Easter Bilby to support the campaign.

The Monk’s Big Tasting Party will kick off the festivities with a night of beer sampling, USA style foods and entertainment. What follows is a week of exclusive beer related events including; tastings, appreciation classes, Californian style foods and a quiz night.
The purchase of a green card will entitle the holder, 10 pints of USA craft beer throughout the week, event merchandise, presale ticket opportunities to other USA craft beer week events and an exclusive invitation to the closing night party. Also included is a ticket to go into the draw to win four cartons of USA craft beer. Clout Stout is a Russian Imperial Stout brewed for the beer connoisseur with the patience to age his/her beer. Poured from the bottle it is black and thick, initially sweet and full bodied before developing into a smooth, bittersweet finish. 10.6% ABV gives Clout Stout huge complexity and depth - each sip warms and hypnotizes the drinker.
Below: Read what Australian top beer writers are saying:
Mike Gribble – (www.taste.com.au) This black velvet beauty tastes so good, it'd be a travesty not to send it to the workbench to trial on your most deserving mates. Its flavour explosion kicks into gear under warming alcohol, making a big impression from pour to empty. Its syrupy body gives a shy, shortlived toffee-gold head. It streaks a slick of gold around the glass with its hot-rod astringency. Its rich mouthfeel is dashed liberally with the silken tastes of six malts; roasted barley, crystal, pale, oatmeal, black and chocolate. With just a light chilling, it's bittersweet and complex in a swirl of nuts, dates, coffee, caramel and cocoa. One bottle will make a big impact on four tasters. http://www.taste.com.au/news+features/articles/2013/clout+stout

Last Chance to score tickets for the Holy Duo! Playing tonight! Online ticket purchasing finishing at 5pm!
We are very excited at having more rock icons grace our stage. The Holy Duo is indeed a gift from the gods. Featuring Steve Kilbey from Australia's best known psychedelic pop band, The Church, and Ricky Maymi from Brian Jonestown Massacre San Francisco. Steve Kilbey, lead singer songwriter from the Church drops by WA in March for a whistle stop tour playing with his guest guitarist and co-songwriter on their new collaborative album: Ricky Maymi from The Brian Jonestown Massacre!
This is sure to be a unique and exciting listening experience for the devotee of either mans respective bands, supported by the full rhythm section of father and son team Shaun and Adrian Hoffman. Looking relaxed and tickled pink with their new duo, Steve and Ricky play a cross section of Steve's solo work, Church tunes, Jack Frost and tracks off their new album, mixed with a couple of select covers.
Tickets are $25 Pre Sale or $30 at The Door subject to availability. To purchase tickets click here&

 Hi All,
Hope everyone is well and happy...
We are having another beer dinner soon, on Friday 26th March.
Click for beer dinner poster
Click here for beer dinner menu
It is our third annual beer dinner and seems to be getting bigger every year and is now an event that we really look forward to. Myself and our Head Chef, Melissa, have put our heads together and come up with a fantastic looking menu for the night, with, of course matching beers from our range of naturally brewed beers - as well as a couple of new release beers on offer. Cost is $90 pp which includes a 5 course menu and beers (or wine) included. So come along, enjoy some great food and beer, and have some fun. Attached are all details, as well as the menu for the night. Please feel free to pass this on to any associates, friends, customers, or anyone who you think may be interested.
Cheers,
Dan
