Brewers name: Fiona Geraty
Breweries worked at and now: Matso's Broome Brewery Sail and Anchor Pub Brewery How you started brewing: The love affair started at age 4, capping home brew for my Dad. Many moons later I was working in the hospitality industry tasting quality beer, wine and spirits for restaurant and bar lists. I headed up the coast and was working at Matso's when the owners decided to install a microbrewery. I was given the opportunity to help commission the new plant and learn to brew under PeterNolin and Bill Hoedemaker. The love affair continues. Favourite beer you’ve brewed: I'm a bit keen on our Brass Monkey Stout. There's a lot of different malt going on so the brewhouse smells amazing. Favourite beer you haven’t brewed: There's so many. Schneider Aventinus is a favourite. The Unibroue beers are awesome. Blackwood Valley's Stout. Redoak's Framboise. I could go on… Greatest beer achievement: Best in Class Dark Lager AIBA 2006 for Smokey Bishop Dark Lager Favourite brewing website: www.microbrewingaustralia.com.au, www.pinkbootssociety.com, www.beerforchicks.com How you see Australian Microbrewing industry: We are not tied to tradition so there is always something new out there. It's an exciting place for a brewer. And beer drinkers! Brewer/Brewery you most highly respect: Again, too many. I can honestly say the W.A. brewers are very supportive of each other. I feel lucky to be working amongst such a generous and knowledgeable group. Cheers to you all. Hint to home brewers. Take notes on EVERYTHING! How soon we drink and forget. Hint to microbrewers. 3B Action is the best anti-chafe cream around. It’s true, isn’t it Mal? haha
